One of KATA’s focus area as a leading authority on travel trade in Kenya is to promote professional development by having continuous engagements with travel training institutions.
As part of KATA’s focus to nurture and empower travel students, KATA awarded Ms. Alice Thuguri Muruiki who emerged as the Best Student in Travel Operations-Class of 2017 during the 42nd graduation Ceremony at Kenya Utalii College. The award, a fully paid holiday of two nights for two with return air ticket was presented to Alice by CEO Nicanor Sabula at KATA offices.
“I am so excited and grateful to KATA for this award as it will allow me to explore the coastal tourism circuit of Mombasa and fulfil my passion for travel” she said.
Kenya Utalii College is a member of KATA under the Academic institutions category and is recognized worldwide for its quality and competence in Tourism and Travel training.
Alice, a 4th born in a family of 5 has just completed her second and final internship at a local tour firm and is looking for internship opportunities with an established travel agency to sharpen her skills in travel operations. She describes herself as a go getter who is passionate about travel.
Alice believes that travel makes a person modest, it makes us realize that we occupy a tiny place in this world and that we have opportunity to explore more. “On that note my dream destination is Italy, being a catholic it has been my dream to visit the St.Peters square in Vatican City, Italy’s capital Rome and the leaning tower of Pisa. I also took Italian classes when I was at Kenya Utalii College and that made me love Italy more.” She said.
We acknowledge and thank the sponsors of the award, Skyward Express and Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa Mombasa.
