Kenya Tourism Federation (KTF), the apex body of the tourism private sector, hosted a gala for all travel and tourism stakeholders under the theme “a toast to the tourism sector – a sustainability agenda”.
The gala was held on 29th November at the tamarind tree hotel.
The aim of the gala was to celebrate tourism industry stakeholders, reminisce of the good and bad times the industry went through and toast to the future.
Speaking at the Gala, Fred Odek, Kenya Tourism Federation vice chairman noted that, “at a time like this last year it was all gloom, today we are looking at a situation that makes the country look for a better future.” There is shift in how business is being done in the travel and tourism sector, therefore there is need to have the right products for the right market.
The KTF chairman Mohammed Hersi in his address outlined numerous achievements the federation had accomplished since formation in the late 90s. Among them was the establishment of the tourism industry’s safety and security centre that continuously monitors incidents across the countries tourism circuit, establishment of east Africa’s single tourist visa among others. During the dinner several individuals were recognized and honored for their work in the tourism industry and support to the federation.
