One of KATA’s focus area as a leading authority on travel trade in Kenya is to promote professional development by having continuous engagements with travel training institutions.
As part of KATA’s focus to nurture and empower travel students, KATA awarded Mr. Francis Gakunju Njoroge who emerged as the overall best student in travel operations at Kenya Utalii College during the institution's 43rd graduation ceremony. Mr. Njoroge will enjoy a practical travel experience courtesy of our partners Silverstone Air and The Cradle Tented Camp - Lodwar. The award is a fully paid holiday to Lodwar; return air ticket by Silverstone Air and spend 3 days at the prestigious Cradle Tented Camp.
Speaking to the KATA Weekly Travel News, he opined that “The travel and tourism industry is very resilient. In that even after political clashes, terror attacks, the industry is still firm and strong.”
The last born in a family of four with the love for travelling and adventure, Mr. Gakunju has always had the desire of working in the travel and tourism industry. “I became interested in this industry because of the continuous learning and also new education opportunities. I may not be able to visit all destinations in the world, but I can learn about new destinations through the experience of others,” he added.
He further states that Utalii College has equipped him with knowledge, communication and presentation skills required in the industry. “The granIT, GDS and CRS training while in the college has helped me prepare well and get an idea of what is required in the industry.”
