Minister Balala Tops List of Key Speakers at 2018 KATA Convention  16th Aug 2018

Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife Hon. Najib Balala will deliver the keynote address and officially open the 2018 KATA convention set for 7-8 September 2018 at Enashipai Lodge in Naivasha.

This is according to the KATA CEO Nicanor Sabula who is leading the Convention planning team. “We have lined up a team of star studded speakers both local and international to grace the inaugural KATA Convention. We want to set very high standards in terms of the quality of conversations and the depth of interactions for an event we intent to make annual,” he said.

The 2018 Convention combines the Travel Agents Innovation Forum and the Annual General Meeting with a focus on how travel agents can leverage technology to grow and expand their businesses. Among key speakers who have confirmed attendance include the Travelport duo of Managing Director for Africa Mr. Guido Verweiji and Mr. Brent McLaren, Africa Product Manager. Others include the CEO and Managing Director of Kenya Airways Mr. Sebastian Mikosz, Google Kenya Country Manager Mr. Charles Murito and Mr. Sam Gichuru, the Founder and CEO of Kenya’s pioneer technology and innovation hub, Nailab.

Over 100 owners, directors, CEOs and senior management of travel agencies drawn from KATA membership are expected at the event that has also attracted participation from the travel industry suppliers and participants. There will be exhibitors showcasing their products and services throughout the two-day jamboree. Registration process is going on at the secretariat with the early bird registration set to close on the 17th of August. This year’s event has been sponsored by Kenya Airways, Travelport Kenya, Finserve Africa Limited and Amadeus East Africa.
