As the high season for tourism begins in Kenya, domestic carrier Silverstone Air has added the popular Maasai Mara to its growing list of routes.
The airline started flying to the heart of one of the Seven Wonders of the World on 11th of this month.
Silverstone Air says that the daily return flight, which will take off from Wilson Airport, will also be connecting to various airstrips, including Keekorok, Kichwa Tembo and Olkiombo, targeting leisure travellers on this circuit. The route will mostly operate during the peak season.
Operating a Bombardier Dash 8 (DHC-8), the departure time from Wilson Airport to Maasai Mara will be at 11:00am. The plane will then leave Maasai Mara to Nairobi at 12:15pm arriving at 1:00pm with a return fare of $295 (KES. 29,500).
The Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) was invited to witness the inaugural flight and has commended the airline this great milestone to launch the Maasai Mara route. The Association sees this efforts as a significant contribution to the growth of domestic travel and tourism.
Silverstone Air currently flies to 9 destinations including the newest route; Maasai Mara, Nairobi, Ukunda, Diani, Lamu, Kisumu, Mombasa, Lodwar and Malindi.

With less than a year in operation as a commercial flight, Silverstone air has been on a growing mode owing to the back to back launch of new routes across the country. The airline looks to take another step in the expanding pyramid to regional level.
“We have future plans to expand Silverstone air to regional level i.e. East Africa” said Mr. Patrick Oketch, Sales and Marketing Manager during the maiden flight to Maasai Mara yesterday.Back to news articles
