World Travel Market – Africa 2018 came to a close last week Friday after 3 days of showcasing Africa’s travel trade at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in Cape Town South Africa. The show ran from 18-20 April 2018.
WTM Africa provides a key industry platform that offers all travel industry professionals the chance to engage in real value business conversations, meet new contacts, exchange ideas, share best practice and learn and network in an positive and inspiring environment. More than 7,500 travel experts attended this year's show.
While opening the event, the Executive Mayor of Cape Town City Ms. Alderman Patricia De Lille outlined the vision of Cape Town city in expanding tourism offering for both local and international visitors by strengthening links between Cape Town and other major cities. “Many African cities are enjoying growth in a number of sectors and are eager to expand their offering to the rest of the world. Cape Town has long been a strategic meeting point between east and west, and is therefore an ideal gateway to new markets in the rest of Africa,” she said.
On her part, Ms. Chardonnay Marchesi, South Africa Portfolio Director for Reed Exhibitions’ Travel, Tourism & Sports Portfolio, was ecstatic on the success of this year’s event saying “It’s always fantastic to see how WTM Africa allows attendees the platform to write productive business and make genuine connections that will indeed further tourism. We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback on our second day!”
This year, the Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) partnered with WTM Africa in promoting the show among Kenyan travel trade and are delighted to have seen a number of Kenyan exhibitors in attendance.Back to news articles
