Local carrier, Silverstone Air, a corporate member of KATA last week launched the first ever direct flights between Kenya’s two major cities of Mombasa and Kisumu.
To celebrate this major achievement, they hosted a launch dinner at Nyali Sun Beach Hotel in Mombasa. The event was graced by Mombasa Deputy Governor William Kingi and attended by a host of tourism stakeholders including travel agents and other business partners.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Governor William Kingi applauded the move saying that the direct flights between the two counties would open new opportunities for tourism and business. Silverstone Air CEO Captain Mohammed Somow stated that the launch of the direct flight from Kisumu to Mombasa will give clients more value and convenient flight options “We believe air travel is a major economic driver for both business and leisure travel and we strive to make it easier to get to any destination within the country, pushing Kenya’s economic growth,” he added.
The flights that began operating on 23rd February depart at 1300 Hrs from Kisumu arriving in Mombasa at 1430Hrs. The flight from Mombasa to Kisumu departs at 1500Hrs arriving in Kisumu at 1630Hrs.
Silverstone Air Services is a new entrant in Kenya’s domestic airlines industry. It has been been in operation for the past four months operating daily flights to Kisumu, Ukunda, Malindi, Lamu and Lodwar from Wilson airport.
